Moxa’s OBU-102 fiber-optic bypass units add bypass relay functionality to any network node. In linear network topologies, a single power outage or node failure can disrupt communications to all downstream devices, potentially taking an entire network segment offline. With relay bypass enabled, the failed node is automatically bypassed, ensuring the rest of the network remains operational. Bypass Relay Functionality The OBU-102-SS-LC-FN is installed between a network node and the network to add bypass relay functionality to network switches that do not natively support this feature. During normal operation, the OBU-102 acts as a gateway, forwarding network traffic to and from the connected switch. In the event of a power loss, the OBU-102 automatically bypasses the unpowered switch and transparently forwards network traffic to the next switch in the relay.
